About the club

flessel_toth.jpgBellahouston Fencing club is one of the oldest clubs in the city and is run by Tom Sorbie and Michel Black. It retains it's name from the area that it was founded in more than 20 years ago, but it now meets in the Pearce Institute, which is a beautiful building that has recently been renovated.

The numbers vary between 15 and 30 on an average night and a typical night's training might include a footwork session and perhaps some bladework followed by free fencing. The club does cater for children who want to fence, but they are generally advised to wait until they are 9 or 10 before they start in order to be able to concentrate effectively, and so as not to run riot throughout the club!
